 Junko Smyth

 Cooking Instructor

I was born and lived in Tokyo before coming to Perth in 1996.

I grew up in a family that ran various restaurants in Tokyo and this passion for cooking has been passed down through my family.  

I worked mainly in the hospitality industry.  I also taught Japanese for 4 years at private high school in Perth before returning to Japan in 2004 for 7 years.  

I am a mother of two teenage daughters and one young son, I spend a lot of time in my kitchen to satisfy my young foodies. 

In my daily life, I don't just cook Japanese food, I cook all sorts of food, Italian, Asian, BBQ etc, especially Chinese.

I am not a professional chef, I just LOVE cooking ! My cooking class is for those wanting to learn to make sushi and cook homestyle tasty Japanese meals.

I would love to share the pleasures of Japanese cooking with you 😊

Possess a Certificate of Completion for 'Hygiene for Food Handlers' course

and a Certificate of Registration of a Food Business issued by local council.

Cooking Sessions
 
Sessions run for 2.5 to 3hours, conducted by myself and an assistant at my home in Meadow Springs. 
We only have up to 6 participants, enabling us to have a very hands-on cooking experience.  Due to time restrictions and the size of our class, we don't have a sit-down meal at the table after cooking, instead we focus on cooking and have a taste of the food we just cooked, then you'll be sent home with the meal to share with your family/friends.
Recipes will be provided.

On the day

What to bring : Apron, water bottle, socks for your comfort.

We provide: Apron for those who don't have one

                      Mineral water to refill water bottles

                      Slippers as no shoes in Jun's Kitchen

                     

The door will open 10 minutes before the class, please arrive promptly to start on time.
