Shabu Shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ)

*Shabu-Shabu dinner at home 😊

Haven't had this dish for many years. It was so easy to prepare, all I had to do was, buy sliced beef, cut vegetables, boil water with kelp and sake as broth soup.

I made two common **dipping sauces, ponzu(citrus-based soy sauce) and sesame sauce.

In Japan, we tend to use very good quality beef like wagyu for Shabu-Shabu, and often have it on special occasions. but not for me this time.

*Shabu-shabu is a Japanese hotpot dish of thinly sliced meat and vegetables boiled in water and served with dipping sauces.

**Bottoled dipping sauces can be purchased from asian grocery shops. it doesn't have to be home made.

Chuck Steak was recommended for Shabu-Shabu by local butcher as tasty economical option rather than expensive parts.

I ordered a day before as they had to freeze once to slice it super thin.

Under $14 for almost 1kg of beef, shaved and packed nicely in many layers.

BARGAIN !!!

AND IT WAS TASTY !!!

Sorry about poor quality video, still a beginner taking video😖

didn't skim the scum from the broth enough (cloudy soup...), we were too busy eating 😊

Note: if using sliced pork, it has to be fully cooked.
